Pom Klementieff is the child of a Korean-Russian mother who served as a French consul at Quebec City. Eugene Klementieff is her grandfather. The name was chosen by her parents because of its similarity in pronunciation with the Korean word for "spring" or "tiger". Her family and Klementieff lived for a time in Canada prior to traveling around the world due to her father's job. After living in Japan as well as Ivory Coast they settled in France.
